Greetings -- This invitation is being sent to a select group of people - lawyers who practice TM! As a former partner at a NYC law firm, I remember all too well my years in the courtroom and entrenched in law firm life. As a currently non-practicing attorney, I feel a strong pull to try to mobilize other meditating lawyers to begin a dialogue aimed at changing the climate of our profession and helping lawyers overcome the intense stress that is increasingly present in our profession. In a conversation I had recently with a managing partner at a major NYC firm, I was reminded how pivotal TM can be to an attorney's law practice. This gentleman learned TM decades ago but recently decided to re-energize his TM practice. He has noticed a dramatic improvement in all the key elements of his law practice — he is more focused, more efficient, more creative and more patient and, thus, better able to serve his clients, his partners and to mentor his young staff. Wouldn't it be great if — like so many businesses in NYC who have already incorporated TM into their workplace (hedge funds, media companies, real estate firms to name but a few) — law firms and lawyers could begin to incorporate it? There is so much to discuss, including the availability of CLE credits for learning TM. Please feel free to share this invitation with any of your colleagues or attorney-friends who practice Transcendental Meditation. Our executive director, Bob Roth, and I look forward to brainstorming with you about this important topic. With all the talk of lawyer burnout, anxiety/depression and the increasingly competitive climate of the legal profession, the time is ripe for this discussion. Please scroll down for the invitation. Best, Fredda L. Plesser
